Episode 3: Still Cool
I love this episode. The making of it was pretty incredible. I stood behind the monitors with Bruce and Felix watching everyone's performance at the Gatho. The best bit was Teo Gebert laying on a special cross like wooden support beam with a camera mounted on top so we get a bird's eye view of his voyage to trip out city. The whole crew lifted him up and took him around the bonfire.
So to start, Justin goes to see his therapist, Dr Madeline (played by the amazing Jacqueline McKenzie), to talk through all of his issues and how the Game of Thrones characters are in so much peril. Well he’s not wrong there, they are in a lot of peril… Oh well, it’s the end of the session and Dr Madeline cannot wait to hear more about what Justin is thinking about tomorrow.
Meanwhile across town Bryce is walking home with his trusty skateboard under his arm and stumbles upon the Gatho. A few of the girls there have looked after Harrison, Bryce and Julia’s son, while they’ve gone off to a dinner party. Bryce reiterates in a wannabe casual way that he’s in television. “Netflix or Stan?” … Clearly free to air isn’t getting watched anymore.
The Gatho progresses and what you don’t see is the lead up to Praising the Goon; a process whereby the praiser kneels before one that holds the silver goon bag and aims it from a high position into your mouth. We see Bryce go for it but not the aftershock... “Is this chardonnay!?!?” I loved Julia's Ikea rap and her finding Bryce asleep on the beach. Susan and Teo are so funny together.
Stay tuned for the next episode where The Blackwells go to Balmain.
